It's only been a week in case you were wondering....

Happy Easter Everybody! Here's some groovy tunes for ya!

Naivepop or Petitfool - Bicycle Race (Plus-Tech Squeeze Box Remix)
Well due to popular demand (and because the other place that this was being hosted on has gone down), I present to you the Plus Tech Squeeze Box remix of Naivepop Or Petitfool's Bicycle Race AKA the main song from my epic Flash video, Chocolate Niblet Beans. I first found this song completely by accident one night when I was trying to find interesting remixes or covers of Queen's Bicycle Race after I had just heard a rather interesting version from another site. But instead of finding a Queen remix, I found this mix of a Japanese Pop/Punk song, as done by Plus-Tech Squeeze Box. Since then I have learned that Naivepop or Petitifool are a rather mediocre band, but Plus-Tech Squeeze Box are one of the most hyperactive, catchy, sampledelic Japanese groups out there. More on this in a future update.

Spoony - Undone (The Sweater Song)
Last Saturday I downloaded a copy of the latest Weezer single, Beverly Hills, which I was moderately disappointed with. It was a catchy tune, but seemed too much like a rip-off of their 1994 hit, Undone, but not as good. (In fact you can even sing the course of Undone with Beverly Hills). In my first update I talked about Japanese tribute albums, and this one comes from a Japanese Weezer Tribute. This version takes Undone and turns it into a strange funk-piece with wacky vocals and an awesome guitar solo. Whether or not it's better than the original, is hard to say. However, I think I prefer it to Beverly Hills. (I would also like to take this moment to note that I have now taken down the tracks from the first week, as I said I would do, after a few weeks)

Jarabe De Palo - Bonito
Hooray for more foreign music! Jarabe De Palo hail from Barcelona, Spain, and this track is from their 2003 album of the same name. Bonito translates to "Lovely" and apparently the message of the album is basically "If everything is going wrong, don't worry, dance and everything will be alright". This track definitely illustrates this message as its a very catchy Latin rock tune that just makes you want to get off your seat, crank up the volume and dance around the house. Or at least it did that with me...

Lester - Doofus Rock
Lester is the Canadian duo of Brian Carson and Scott Arkwell, who specialize in funky party dance music combining hip hop, funk, Latin beats, French cinema, and other styles. I discovered this track, by listening to the album a few years ago in a record store, because I was bored and wanted to listen to something. This track is funky breakbeat tune with some rather interesting organ work.

Jellyfish - Ignorance is Bliss

This, my friends, is one of those tracks that I'm starting to wonder why one Earth I haven't known about it before. Maybe I've just been living under a rock or something, but I can't believe I had not known of this until a few days ago. Anyways, this track comes from the 1991 Nintendo album, "White Knuckle Scorin", which featured a bunch of tracks by various rock artists like Roy Orbinson, Dire Straits, and Crosby Stills and Nash. What these tracks had to do with Nintendo is anyone's guess, however this track is relevant. Basically it's a strange Video-Game-Rock-Opera track sung from the perspective of King Koopa to Princess Toadstool. I believe that someone should..nay.. MUST make a video for this track. I would be eternally grateful if someone did, and did it justice. I mean I could try doing a video for this, but I don't think I quite have the skills. Anyways, if you download only one track in this update, this one should be it. I can't stop listening to it. Also, this track has introduced me to the Power-pop styling of the obscure 90s group, Jellyfish, whose other tracks are also incredibly catchy and worth seeking out as well.
