Whoo! Another Update!

Okie Dokie! Here we go! Ignore the other update if you have the RSS feed. That was me getting rid of stuff.

Naked City - Batman

I've been on this strange John Zorn kick lately. John Zorn for those not in the know, is n American composer and saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist. He owns the Tzadik record label and has worked with a large number of experimental musicians, particularly in improvised music, incorporating modern classical music, jazz and even death metal and grindcore as well as having produced music to include most styles. He's scored music for films and worked with Mr Bungle, producing several of their albums. This song is the first track from his band Naked City's first album. It's proabably one of the more accessable tunes on there and while it has really nothing to do with Batman, it sounds like great chase music. It also kind of reminds me of Hoots Mon by Lord Rockingham.

John Zorn - My Favorite Things

Another Zorn tune. This comes from his album " Film Works, Vol. 7: Cynical Hysterie Hour" which features music that he composed for some animated shorts for four animated shorts by Japanese cartoonist Kiriko Kubo. So I guess you could say it's anime music. Heheheh..

Morgan Fisher as The Burtons - Macarthur Park
This track comes from the album Hybrid Kids by Morgan Fisher which features covers of songs as done by several made up groups in different styles, all done by Morgan Fisher. This version of Macarthur Park is done in the style of The Specials/Two Tone Ska. More info on it here.

School of Fish - Three Strange Days

I heard this song on the radio a few days ago. It's one of those obscure songs from the year 1991, just before Nirvana and Grunge took hold of the airwaves. It's got a good neo-psychedelica vibe to it.

Paul Gilbert - 2 Become 1

Paul Gilbert is the guitarist of band Racer X and formerly of the band Mr. Big. After he parted ways with Mr. Big in 1996, Gilbert pursued his career as a solo guitarist and has evolved into a successful solo artist/singer/songwriter. While he is known as being a shredder/guitar vituoso, many of his solo works tend to in the genre of simple pop/rock. But good stuff none the less. Also he has ONE OF THE GREATEST WEBSITES OF ALL TIME. Anyways, this is the first song that I heard by him. Yes it's a Spice Girls cover. I'll probably upload some more of his stuff in future updates.
