Occasionally I Update this thing...

Decided to do that whole "I post 5 songs without any song info whatsoever and you comment and say what you think" sort of thing again. So here we go!
Song 1
Song 2
Song 3
Song 4
Song 5

All I'll say is that one of these songs is done by a guy who's really popular who's first name starts with the letter N and ends in the letter L and has an I and an E in there...

Whoo! Another Update!

Okie Dokie! Here we go! Ignore the other update if you have the RSS feed. That was me getting rid of stuff.

Naked City - Batman

I've been on this strange John Zorn kick lately. John Zorn for those not in the know, is n American composer and saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist. He owns the Tzadik record label and has worked with a large number of experimental musicians, particularly in improvised music, incorporating modern classical music, jazz and even death metal and grindcore as well as having produced music to include most styles. He's scored music for films and worked with Mr Bungle, producing several of their albums. This song is the first track from his band Naked City's first album. It's proabably one of the more accessable tunes on there and while it has really nothing to do with Batman, it sounds like great chase music. It also kind of reminds me of Hoots Mon by Lord Rockingham.

John Zorn - My Favorite Things

Another Zorn tune. This comes from his album " Film Works, Vol. 7: Cynical Hysterie Hour" which features music that he composed for some animated shorts for four animated shorts by Japanese cartoonist Kiriko Kubo. So I guess you could say it's anime music. Heheheh..

Morgan Fisher as The Burtons - Macarthur Park
This track comes from the album Hybrid Kids by Morgan Fisher which features covers of songs as done by several made up groups in different styles, all done by Morgan Fisher. This version of Macarthur Park is done in the style of The Specials/Two Tone Ska. More info on it here.

School of Fish - Three Strange Days

I heard this song on the radio a few days ago. It's one of those obscure songs from the year 1991, just before Nirvana and Grunge took hold of the airwaves. It's got a good neo-psychedelica vibe to it.

Paul Gilbert - 2 Become 1

Paul Gilbert is the guitarist of band Racer X and formerly of the band Mr. Big. After he parted ways with Mr. Big in 1996, Gilbert pursued his career as a solo guitarist and has evolved into a successful solo artist/singer/songwriter. While he is known as being a shredder/guitar vituoso, many of his solo works tend to in the genre of simple pop/rock. But good stuff none the less. Also he has ONE OF THE GREATEST WEBSITES OF ALL TIME. Anyways, this is the first song that I heard by him. Yes it's a Spice Girls cover. I'll probably upload some more of his stuff in future updates.

I'm REALLY terrible at updating this thing

You thought I abaonded this thing, didn't you? Well I haven't BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
So, if you're reading this, you proabably are looking at it via my LJ feed or you were curious and thinking "I wonder if Toxic ever updated his mp3 blog", and then you'll see this. But for this update, I'm doing things a little bit differently. Instead of labelling the tracks and giving info on them, I took out the ID3 tags and labeled them with numbers. That way you'll have no idea what you're getting. WAHAHAAHAHA! So download these at your own risk.

I'm terrible at updating this thing...

But At Least People Are Commenting! Hooray for that!

Anyways, before I continue to this update's tracks there are two important points to adress. The first, is that in case you didn't know, this blog has an LJ feed for those who use Live Journal. You can find it here and then you can add this blog to your friends! Hooray for that!

The second point which I would like to adress is something, that if you didn't know, then you have been living under a rock, or do not know me very well. And that's my Friday night internet radio show, KRUD!, in which I play all sorts of interesting music, much like the stuff featured on this blog. I also frequently make a complete fool of myself online as well during the show. And recently there have been mass cereal eating orgies in honor of the times that KRUD is on. KRUD, usually airs on Friday nights at from 7 PM MST (9 PM EST, 8 Central, 6 Pacific) till 10 PM MST (Though I usually go a bit longer). This may change in the summer due to work times, but I will adress it. To tune it when the time is right go to http://krud.no-ip.info:8000/. You will need Winamp or some media player that supports streaming audio. For more info there is the KRUD website which I haven't updated in almost a year.

And now for the tracks...

Because someone told me to upload these a few weeks ago, this weeks theme will be weird mixes by Me! Yes Me! Throughout the last couple of years I have specialized in making strange mixes incorperating samples from all sort of interesting sources. Of course, you have to be aware that my musical expertise still isn't the greatest, but where I lack in the abiltity to cokepltely know if somethign is in key or not I gain in the overall insanity. So here's some classics:

The Most Annoying Song I've Ever Made

GAHBUNGA! (The Animutation Mix)

Metallica

Hit Me Baby One More Time (One of my favorites)

Sussodio Takes the Double Dutch Bus to Funky Metropolis

Odd and Incomplete

Holiday Sneakin

It's only been a week in case you were wondering....

Happy Easter Everybody! Here's some groovy tunes for ya!

Naivepop or Petitfool - Bicycle Race (Plus-Tech Squeeze Box Remix)
Well due to popular demand (and because the other place that this was being hosted on has gone down), I present to you the Plus Tech Squeeze Box remix of Naivepop Or Petitfool's Bicycle Race AKA the main song from my epic Flash video, Chocolate Niblet Beans. I first found this song completely by accident one night when I was trying to find interesting remixes or covers of Queen's Bicycle Race after I had just heard a rather interesting version from another site. But instead of finding a Queen remix, I found this mix of a Japanese Pop/Punk song, as done by Plus-Tech Squeeze Box. Since then I have learned that Naivepop or Petitifool are a rather mediocre band, but Plus-Tech Squeeze Box are one of the most hyperactive, catchy, sampledelic Japanese groups out there. More on this in a future update.

Spoony - Undone (The Sweater Song)
Last Saturday I downloaded a copy of the latest Weezer single, Beverly Hills, which I was moderately disappointed with. It was a catchy tune, but seemed too much like a rip-off of their 1994 hit, Undone, but not as good. (In fact you can even sing the course of Undone with Beverly Hills). In my first update I talked about Japanese tribute albums, and this one comes from a Japanese Weezer Tribute. This version takes Undone and turns it into a strange funk-piece with wacky vocals and an awesome guitar solo. Whether or not it's better than the original, is hard to say. However, I think I prefer it to Beverly Hills. (I would also like to take this moment to note that I have now taken down the tracks from the first week, as I said I would do, after a few weeks)

Jarabe De Palo - Bonito
Hooray for more foreign music! Jarabe De Palo hail from Barcelona, Spain, and this track is from their 2003 album of the same name. Bonito translates to "Lovely" and apparently the message of the album is basically "If everything is going wrong, don't worry, dance and everything will be alright". This track definitely illustrates this message as its a very catchy Latin rock tune that just makes you want to get off your seat, crank up the volume and dance around the house. Or at least it did that with me...

Lester - Doofus Rock
Lester is the Canadian duo of Brian Carson and Scott Arkwell, who specialize in funky party dance music combining hip hop, funk, Latin beats, French cinema, and other styles. I discovered this track, by listening to the album a few years ago in a record store, because I was bored and wanted to listen to something. This track is funky breakbeat tune with some rather interesting organ work.

Jellyfish - Ignorance is Bliss

This, my friends, is one of those tracks that I'm starting to wonder why one Earth I haven't known about it before. Maybe I've just been living under a rock or something, but I can't believe I had not known of this until a few days ago. Anyways, this track comes from the 1991 Nintendo album, "White Knuckle Scorin", which featured a bunch of tracks by various rock artists like Roy Orbinson, Dire Straits, and Crosby Stills and Nash. What these tracks had to do with Nintendo is anyone's guess, however this track is relevant. Basically it's a strange Video-Game-Rock-Opera track sung from the perspective of King Koopa to Princess Toadstool. I believe that someone should..nay.. MUST make a video for this track. I would be eternally grateful if someone did, and did it justice. I mean I could try doing a video for this, but I don't think I quite have the skills. Anyways, if you download only one track in this update, this one should be it. I can't stop listening to it. Also, this track has introduced me to the Power-pop styling of the obscure 90s group, Jellyfish, whose other tracks are also incredibly catchy and worth seeking out as well.
